With more pharma companies than ever before evaluating the potential of 3D tissue models for drug development, it’s critical that the industry overcomes the key challenge of validating that these models are physiologically relevant and can produce data to match up to in vivo models to instil confidence in the read-outs they generate. Functional assays are one such method to support this validation, however, it’s difficult to directly compare 3D model data with its 2D or in vivo counterparts.
