Monica Wang
Senior Scientist UCB
Monica Wang is a cell biologist specializing in human iPSC‑derived 2D and 3D skeletal muscle and cardiac systems. Her work integrates high‑content imaging, electrophysiology, molecular phenotyping, and functional assays to define disease‑relevant endpoints. She has previously led cell studies in diabetes, conducted transcriptomic profiling in ALS to identify therapeutic pathways, and contributed to foundational research demonstrating that Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling is a key instructive cue for generating midbrain dopaminergic neurons, cells crucially affected in Parkinson’s disease. Her current research focuses on developing scalable 3D platforms that improve translational predictability and enable more effective therapeutic discovery
